Pet's Story or Bio
Leo came to my farm after I chose his picture from several I researched online. He is a gentle charmer with the appearance of a soft teddy bear and has a heart of pure gold! Although he seems to be reserved, he misses nothing and calmly takes in his surroundings as he strolls around his new territory. We established a routine early, with him accompanying me on my daily rounds and observing my interactions with the alpacas, llamas, goats, peafowl, guineas and chickens that became his wards. In exchange for this large undertaking, he maneuvered his expectations for respect and love. Now, as my right-hand man, he gets kisses, hugs and pats while on the job, and during rest time, gets brushed, fed and made party to my thoughts and secrets. The bonding process was steady and I knew he was “the one” after an experience that both startled and pleased me. That morning I was trying to deliver a wheelbarrow full of fresh hay into the pasture of female goats with kids. At the gate, I was met by several neutered males that wanted that hay as well as to enter the adjoining field with the females, and they were fairly persistent to the point that I became frustrated and envisioned having to deal with separating goats in order to enter the gate! I knew that Leo was near, but I was still startled to hear a quick growl and see goats retreating in all directions! I opened and entered the gate with my wheelbarrow and Leo followed me sedately. He had my back! Leo is the most perfect example of working dog that I can imagine, and a dear friend that I trust and love!
