In this photo Mama is lovingly keeping watch over her two eggs. She is always very mindful of how her nest is looking and will arrange sticks and branches as needed. Red-necked Grebes have become one of my favorite subjects to photograph. Keep in mind that nesting birds are very protective and we need to keep their safety in mind. I make sure to always use a long lens so I can keep my distance and not disturb them. I look forward to watching more special moments unfold with this little family.
