I guess my picture of Jimmy running like the wind on the beach in Oregon, cancer survivor and all was not enough to pull at your heart strings so I have a touching story for you about how I acquired Jimmy and Dottie.

It was around the beginning February 2007 when I saw an ad in the local paper regarding a Wheaton Terrier Puppy for sale in Langley. My husband was very ill with cancer and I thought I would take a break and drive out to see the puppy as I knew it would raise my spirits. He was the cutest little thing but I was too late he was sold. I told the seller that if it didn’t work out with the buyer to give me a call. On February 18th, 2007 my husband passed away and approximately 2 weeks thereafter I got a call from the seller that the puppy was still for sale so my sister, Jackie and I went to pick him up.

He was so much bigger and cuter than ever so I picked him up and gave a big hug. As he was licking my face I happened to see through a glass widow on a door sitting like an angel a big white and grey puppy. I asked the seller if it was an Old English Sheepdog and yes it was. I then asked her if it was for sale and to make a long story short Jackie and I walked out of there with a Wheaton Terrier for me and an Old English Sheepdog for her.

Jimmy was named after my husband’s favorite Seinfeld episode “Jimmy” and Dottie because of the white Dot on her black nose.

Jimmy was a very special dog. He made me laugh and smile during the worst period of my life when no one else could. He was brave and sweet even during radiation treatment on his hind leg and survived a cancer diagnosis that gave him 6 months to live but proved them wrong by sticking by my side for another 7 years. He passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2020.

Dottie is loved beyond her wildest dreams and is still welcoming people at the door with her traditional head butt. She’s pretty slow now but that would be normal for a 13 year old “big dog”. Jimmy will be waiting for her so they can snuggle again.
