Rita was originally called Ribbon but we renamed her after Rita Hayworth so she would know she was beautiful. When she came to meet us she collapsed in fear. She really never fully recovered her distrust of humans but she did put all of her faith in me. She rode in the passenger seat of my Prius.People in Townsend laughed to see my husband in the back seat with Rita perched beside me. Rita was so brave and wanted to protect us. She sat on the deck outside our bedroom to watch for bears and coyotes. She used her pet door to storm out after wildlife including coyotes with her magnificent “woof”. She was the toast of the neighborhood on Halloween when she dressed as a banana and paraded the two mile perimeter. She meant the world to us and is so missed and always in our hearts.
