Pet’s Story or Bio
Meet Emma, our foster failure! Earlier this year my husband tagged me in a photo on the ARF of Rincon Facebook page of a little black mastiff/weimaraner mix that had been chained to her brother for the first 4 months of her life. Keep in mind that the 2ft. chain she was on, was shared by her brother and they were on a small cement slab.

Miriam of ARF of Rincon had seen this and after a few days took action. She immediately found a home for her beautiful brother but needed an emergency foster for Emma. When I saw the picture my husband tagged me in I knew we had to help so that night we went to Miriam’s house to meet Emma. It was love at first sight, though my husband wouldn’t admit it since we were just supposed to foster her. Miriam told us she didn’t have a name, so we could name her if we wanted to – well that’s like #1 of the things not to do if you only intend to foster.

With her super sweet disposition, Emma seemed to suit her perfectly. We spent the next few days getting to know her and letting Jade (our Sato from ARF) and Lucy (our rescue from the states) welcome her to our pack. By now I’m practically begging my husband to keep her but he stood firm in that we were to be fostering and we didn’t need another pet. Miriam knew we were falling in love so gave us until that Sunday to make a decision before letting her be available for adoption. Emma and I spent the next few days doing our best to be super cute and loving so ‘Dad’ would want to adopt her.

Sunday came around and I rolled over in bed, dogs snuggled between us and looked at Jeremy, “Sooooo?”

“Well yeah of course we’re keeping her, I knew it from the first time we met her. I just wanted to make you squirm.”

And that’s how Emma became part of our happy pack of furbabies.
