Merlyn was my first diabetic cat. I fell in in love with him online when he was 13 and got a friend to drive me 2 hours to adopt him. He became diabetic about 14 months after I adopted him and and went into remission after 14 months. Merlyn was an old soul, and had such a sense of humor! He loved testing me and the other cats by doing things we wouldn't expect of him. He was like a kitty psychologist! He was my "heart" kitty, figuratively and literally. Later he developed kidney issues and cardiomyopathy/CHF, but lived two and a half years balancing those. I only had him 6 short years but the impact he made on me to rescue more diabetic kitties was his legacy.
