Shadow was surrendered to Diabetic Cats in Need in the summer of 2016, and he went to board at a vet clinic in Tampa and get treated for diabetes. After several months there, he really needed to get to a foster home and out of a cage. So, we made arrangements to fly him to Colorado for us to foster him. He arrived just in time for Halloween of 2016.

From the very beginning of living with us, Shadow just needed a low carb canned food diet and no insulin - this was a surprise, because he was on insulin when boarding at the vet! We guess that getting into a lower stress home environment got him feeling better right away.

After a few months, we were bonded to Shadow and vice versa, and we decided he wasn't leaving. He's a constant cuddle buddy, has the loudest purr ever, and loves everyone he meets!

(Just wanted to note that this picture was taken during a closely supervised visit to a fenced in yard - he's an indoor kitty!)
