About Us

Founded in 1893, the Guelph Humane Society provides care and shelter for as many as 3,000 homeless, stray, injured and abused animals each year.

Our programs are delivered by a dedicated staff team with many years of experience in the field. In addition to paid staff, we are lucky to have nearly 300 active volunteers who provide many thousands of hours of volunteer service each year and generously share their skills and ideas with the humane society.

The Guelph Humane Society has a strong working relationship with local, provincial, and national animal welfare organizations; local school boards; the City of Guelph; Township of Centre Wellington; Township of Guelph-Eramosa; local veterinarians; the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre at the University of Guelph; and Guelph Police Services and the Provincial Crown Attorney's Office. We are an affiliate society of the Ontario SPCA, and member of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS).

We are a registered, charitable, non-profit organization that does not receive government funding. As such, we depend on your donations and private funding to support our important work. The Guelph Humane Society's charitable registration number is 119236305RR0001.
