The Cats and Dogs of McCook Playing Card Contest

ENDS July 12TH, 7:00PM CST
If you are a cat or dog lover in McCook (or within the southwest Nebraska, northwest Kansas, and northeast Colorado Tri-State area) we'd like you to help us identify the most adorable and funny furry friends in Red Willow County. The cats and dogs receiving the most votes will receive the honor of being placed on their very own card in our latest fundraiser benefiting the McCook Humane Society, a custom deck of playing cards called, The Cats and Dogs of McCook.

2015 Contest Overview
Is your puppy the Ace of Hearts, your kitty the Queen of Clubs, your Tabby a deuce, or maybe your Guinea Pig is one of the jokers in the pack? Now you can enter the game and ante up by sharing with us your four legged furry friends best poker face! The 54 photos (includes two jokers) with the most votes will appear on an individual card in our custom deck of playing cards, with the top dog and cat vote-getters appearing on the "face card" of their choice. The photos with the most votes (one dog and one cat) will also be featured on the outside of the card box and the retail merchant sale display box!

Entering a photo is a $5.00 donation and all entries raising more than $50.00 in voting donations will receive an official deck of the McCook Humane Society playing cards. So get your camera or scrapbook out to play. Enter your best photo now through July 12th and your pooch or kitten could be the next trump card.

The printed decks will be a 54 card, standard poker-size 2.5'' x 3.5'' deck. The McCook Humane Society playing card decks will be sold at the shelter, area retailers, and various events throughout the year including: McCook Chamber of Commerce Heritage Days Arts Festival in Norris Park, Shelter Dog Days in the Park, Shoot for the Shelter, and many more.

Encourage your family, friends, and work colleagues to vote for your favorite cat and dog. All contest voting donations are a tax deductible contribution which benefit the McCook Humane Society to assist with caring for and finding forever homes in Red Willow County for lost or abandon animals.

VOTE
Votes are one dollar ($1.00) each.
Vote for your favorite photo as often as you wish - there is no limit to the number of votes one may cast. Votes can be placed Monday, April 6th, 7:00pm CST through Monday, July 12th, 7:00pm CST.

PRIZES
Grand Prize winners will be featured on the outside of the card box and prominently on the merchant sales display box (one cat and one dog with the most votes will be the grand prize winner).

Grand Prize – Display Box Winners (2) - The two entrants receiving the most votes (one cat category top vote getter photo and one dog category top vote getter photo) will have their winning images and pet's name featured:
  1. Prominently on the outside of the merchant sale display boxes
  2. On the outside cover of each "card deck box"
  3. Be the first to choose the "face card" of their choice (a King, Queen, Jack, or Ace) to showcase their furry four legged family member. Grand prize winners get the 1st choice of their card.
First Place – Face Card Prize Winners (14) - The entrants in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc… (up to 14 top vote getters following the grand place winners (alternating between the top vote getting dogs and top vote getting cats) will have their entry image and pet's name featured on a "face card" of their choice until all 4 Kings, 4 Queens, 4 Jacks, and 4 Aces are taken, provided it has not already been reserved by an entrant with more votes which rank higher.

For example, the first place vote getter (cat or dog receiving the most votes) gets first choice of a face card, then the alternate dog or cat with the most votes in their category gets their choice of a face card, then the next top vote getter gets a choice (alternating between the cat and dog categories) until all face cards are taken. The goal is to have an equal number of cats and dogs (26 dogs and 26 cat photos) in the deck of 52. Winners must respond with their card selection by July 2nd, 2015, or the Cat Pack will choose a card to showcase the winning cat or dog.

Second Place – Card Deck Prize Winners (36) - The next 36 entrants with the highest votes (18 cats and 18 dogs) after the prior top vote getting winners have their entry image and pet's name selected for a card will be placed on the remaining card deck cards (one image per card and an equal number of cats verses dogs). The card selection in this category will be chosen at random by the Cat Pack volunteers for all second place photo category winners. The Jokers (2) The "Other Pets" category for the contest include any other pets which are not a cat or a dog. This catch all category celebrates other family members in our homes (or on our farms) with fur, feathers, or scales, i.e. Guinea Pigs, Pigs, Hamsters, Horses, Chickens, Rabbits, Roosters, Ferrets, Turtles, Lizards, Snakes, Birds, etc… The top two vote getting animals in the "Other Pets" category will grace the two Joker cards in the deck.

Conditional Prize Winners (open to any entrant) - If your entry receives more than 50 votes you will receive one free deck of the McCook Humane Society playing cards. The Cats and Dogs of McCook playing cards will sell for $5.00 each, and will be sold at the McCook Humane Society, Emeritus at Willow Ridge SLC, various local merchants, and shelter events beginning in mid to late September.
