Your Pet's Rescue Story
This is my baby boy, Maxi! I'll start in the beginning: I always wanted to adopt a pup and give them a life that they deserve. My dad passed away suddenly a couple of years ago and it made me realize that my (at the time of the adoption) 10 year pup needed to be more happy and have a friend, since I don't know when he'll be leaving me and sadly he passed away earlier this year. So last year in August my bf, Billy, mentioned about the pet adoption event they were having at the Orange County animal shelter and I had a feeling that I needed to do something and We decided to visit them. We spent two days walking past all of these beautiful puppies and for some reason kept passing the same cage that held three different dogs and at the time we kept looking at this jack Russell terrier named Peanut, but for some reason I was thinking he isn't the one, but this was gonna be Billy's dog, so it was his decision. The other two dogs in cage were adorable and one of them was like peanut and being vibrant and happy, but the other one just laid on the ground and was looking so pitiful, that he was giving up. Finally on the second day we we were there, we still didn't feel right with any dogs we were interested in, but we kept coming back to this same cage and I finally spoke up and said let's see this pitiful dog laying on the ground. We played with him and he had no interest in us(haha), but this felt right, he was meant to be our Maxi. we took him home that day (found out his due out date was actually in a week from that day) and he has changed out lives so drastically. Just to see him actually smile and come out of his shell and be genuinely happy. That smile on my late Winter's face when he got a little brother and playmate. I'm actually crying as I am writing this. To see a pups face when he knows he's actually loved and have the home and life he deserves is one of most amazing blessings in my life to experience. Now Max is a big brother his little sister Talia (who is a 6 month old puppy) and eventually a brother to our future pups that we plan to rescue. I am glad I followed my feelings and took my bf and I out of our comfort zone and to make a unexpected decision and did this. We didn't know how much we needed him, Winter needed him, and how much he needed us at the time. Soon we will be celebrating him birthday on August 16, he will be turning 4 years old! :)
