Pet's StoryGracie's story will make you eventually cry with happy tears. Gracie was rescued from Sullivan County Animal Shelter 4 years ago where she was being held as evidence due to an abuse case.
My wife Barbara and I have had boxers for 28 years and our other boxer "Star" had died one year previously to us adopting Gracie. It was near mother's day and Sullivan Co. had directed me to contact the Sullivan County Sheriff's Dept and the Sullivan Co. Prosecutor's Office. I retired as a city police detective and advised both agencies of my wish to adopt her and if they arrange a legal way for the adoption process she would have good home.
Gracie had been rescued by a Sullivan County Sheriff's Deputy where she was abandoned at a trailer and secured with a log chain with no food or water. Gracie's ribs showed , she had scars from abuse and needed to be loved.
The ok was given by the Sullivan County Sheriffs Office and Office of Prosecuting Attorney for the adoption. My daughter, Corinna and I went over to Sullivan to hopefully adopt her and surprise for my wife for mother's day.
We picked up Gracie and Corinna shared peanut butter cookies with her on the way home. Gracie has been the BEST dog we have ever had. I was skeptical because she had been abused but she proved herself that she just needed to be loved. Here she is enjoying life as she deserves it. Gracie is loved now.
