Gauguin was a 4 month old puppy walking the streets on one of the coldest days Austin has seen. Pipes were freezing as he was walking along while winter winds pelted his puppy legs. He walked up to a woman living with a cat in a converted garage. She could not keep him and put him with a friend who kept him till her season tax work started and she put him into a foster home with Reunion Rescue. Gauguin was initially adopted by a man who did not follow through with training or neutering (provided FREE by Reunion) and was taken back into foster care. Leslie had recently lost her amazing teacher and companion, Van Gogh, a pitbull who succumbed to cancer. When neighbors and friends heard of Van Gogh's illness they booked appointments to come say goodbye. Leslie was heartbroken and called Reunion Rescue to find the comfort of another wonderful pitbull dog. Gauguin and Leslie had both lost a lot in the previous months and bonded over a game of fetch. The attraction was instant. Mistrust and grief was overcome by both and love has flooded their home ever since.
