Pet's Story/Bio
Following the death of my last dog Sandy, I was heartbroken, but decided to go to the SPCA to find another female Lab. When I walked past Deac's pen, I glanced at him, but I had never considered a Pittie or a male, so I quickly walked on. But, I did notice those eyes, that furled brow, and that calm, sweet, gentle manner. Without stopping to look closely, I continued walking down the aisle. Fifteen steps later, I stopped, shook my head, and laughed to myself, thinking, "I cannot believe you are going home with a male pit!". When I went back to look closely at him, he had not moved. He looked me right in the eye, and I swear he was telling me that he could help mend my broken heart-that we would be buddies forever, and take care of each other for the rest of our lives. Deacon came home with me that day and that was the start of an amazing relationship. Because of him, I have thrown myself in to pittie rescue, adopted 3 other dogs-2 pits and a crazy coonhound! In the last few years, I have had some physical challenges and Deac has become my Service Dog. We have gone to Steelers games, Springstein concerts and train rides to NYC for some sightseeing, although his favorite trip is the the deli counter of the food store! He is strong, patient, kind, and gentle. And although I will always miss my Sandy Girl, Deac has kept his promise. My heart is mended and full of love and determination to continue fighting for this wonderful breed. I love this boy with all my heart!
