About

Stray Cat Alliance, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, was established in 2000 after Christi Metropole found a homeless and sick kitten – Chloe – in the backyard of a client's home. She quickly learned there were little to no resources in Los Angeles, California to help her medically care for Chloe or find her a permanent home. Then, Christi also needed resources for the spay/neuter of Chloe's siblings, mother and 15 colony mates who were discovered at night living behind that house.

This was the genesis of Stray Cat Alliance. Working with a group of volunteers, Christi designed programs and found resources to support people who want to help cats and kittens have a better chance at life. Now 16 years later, over 175,000 cats and kittens have been supported through the free programs of Stray Cat Alliance.

Stray Cat Alliance Mission and Vision
Mission
Stray Cat Alliance educates and empowers the community to advocate for every cat's right to be safe, healthy and valued. We are building a no kill nation, one stray at a time.

Vision
Stray Cat Alliance envisions a time when all cats are cared for, all kittens and domesticated cats are in loving homes and there is a healthy, but declining sterilized community cat population. The community cat colonies that do remain are monitored, fed, and treated medically when needed by their caregivers.
