Our Story

The 2018 online calendar photo contest is a fundraiser project tradition established by The Cat Pack: Friends of the McCook Humane Society in 2012. The purpose of the calendar project is to support the animal shelter with a fundraiser which showcases the cats and dogs of McCook and the surrounding area. To complete the project Cat Pack youth volunteers: plan, request, promote, collect, organize, arrange, display, negotiate secure sponsors, print, ship, store, share, and sell calendars throughout local southwestern Nebraska, Red Willow County, and the Tri-State area.

The 2018 calendar contest will be the "6^th Annual" calendar fundraising project created and managed by the Cat Pack. The 2018 calendar will showcase between 60 – 80 cat and dog photos which will be organized in a seasonal collage theme. Sponsor logos are highlighted each month to recognize businesses who contribute to make the printing of the calendars possible.

The Cats and Dogs of McCook calendars have become a great gift item for animal lovers and individuals who support the mission of the McCook Humane Society. So we need your help by sending in your best photos!

The Cat Pack is asking for the community's involvement to send in a lot of new amazing images which showcase adorable furry loved ones to grace the monthly pages of our new 2018 calendar.

Cat and dog photos can be viewed online at the contest website and voting will be open until Sunday, July, 9^th, 2017. Each vote costs $1 ($5.00 minimum = five votes). The one dog photo and the one cat photo receiving the most votes will be crowned, "Cover Critters," on the new 2018 Cats & Dogs of McCook cover.

Once the calendars are available, they cost $5.00 each and 100% of each calendar sale is a donation to the McCook animal shelter. All proceeds from the contest voting go directly to the McCook Humane Society animal shelter as a donation.

ABOUT US – THE CAT PACK: Friends of the McCook Humane Society

We are youth volunteers and adult family members who team up to support our local McCook Humane Society with community awareness about the joy of adopting shelter animals.

Since 2008, Cat Pack projects have served the McCook Humane Society to help enhance their ability to care for lost and abandoned cats and dogs.

McCook Cat Pack volunteering examples include:

FUND-RAISING: Examples: calendars, card decks, refrigerator magnets, original art work, signs, slightly used animal themed toys and / or stuffed animals, and other pet merchandise.
EVENT SUPPORT & SPECIAL PROJECTS: Examples: lemonade stands, bake sales, magnet sales, annual shelter events (i.e. Dog Days in the Park), finding lost pets, walking dogs, making signage and banners, booth support, sales, and promotions, art and crafts, and animal care education.
ANIMAL WELFARE PR & PROMOTIONS: Examples: writing and editing newspaper articles, comic strips, bulletin board flyers, radio interviews, video promos, contests, website design and development.
