Isis' life was saved in the nick of time on Sept. 1, 2012. She was seen on the edge of a busy road in North Birmingham trying to eat food someone had thrown out. Cars whizzing by, her emaciated body teetering in the wind. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan saw her. Isis tried to run in fear from her rescuers, but collapsed in weakness. The second she was touched she gave a thankful tail wag, and her sweet face showed relief. How many people saw her and knew of her condition and did nothing? How many people just drove past and looked the other way? How many thought just a dog, not my problem. How many even thought at all. One kind soul in this world had the compassion to stop. To swoop her up in loving arms, to kiss her frail body. To caress her and whisper in her ear that she is safe. She will suffer no more. One kind act. One grateful tail wag. Isis faced a long recovery, but she had the will. It began the moment she was touched by an angel. She suffered from severe abuse, emaciation, dehydration, anemia, heartworms, internal parasites, ringworm, skin sores, worn teeth, and an injured left eye from blunt force trauma that was removed.
Isis was adopted by her foster family December 24, 2013. She still has problems trusting people and new situations, but she is very happy and loves being a member of the pack.
