Your Pet's Rescue Story
Demandred, or just "Dred" doesn't have what you think of as a "typical" rescue story. At just a year and a half, we could tell he'd come from a loving and well cared for home. I remember Dred's first ride in our Jeep, he sniffed every inch of it, curious about everything. Dred wouldn't eat though, unless we held the bowl; he needed reassurance that we were right there for him. As time marched on we could see in his eyes when he realized he wasn't going back. For a few days he was angry and insecure with the other dogs; he just didn't understand. Yet, as happy, loved, young dogs do, Dred bounced back and he's feeling more secure each day. He runs with Da'shain, our standard poodle, and pounces on Dare, his bichon playmate, and is learning how to play with his big sister, DHDR adoptable, Hershey.
When I walked in the door that first day with Dred who was supposed to be our new foster (we weren't planning on adopting), I told my husband "I'm not sure I can let him go." Turns out, he really had already stolen my heart.
