Pet's Story or Bio
Storm was one a four puppies awaiting adoption at the Oglethorpe DC Humane Rescue Alliance as Hurricane Harvey decimated the Houston area. When we heard that hundreds of animals were being trucked for adoption from the Houston area, my husband and I raced over the the HRA to adopt a dog. While we waited, we discussed the fact that dogs already at the shelter were the calm BEFORE the storm. We expected to rescue an older dog, and were hopeful to meet one who could socialize with other dogs, so that he/she would be a good fit with our four-year-old rat terrier rescue, Annie (an adorable, yet anxious and feisty terrier).

We entered the facility to meet the dogs available for adoption, took one look at storm, and knew he was the one! When we entered his pen, he leaned on me, gently herding me towarda little bench in his kennel. Once I sat down, he curled up in my lap to cuddle. At three-months-old, he already weighed 29 lbs! As dozens -- even hundreds -- of potential adopters came through the facility, Storm remained calm and gentle. He came home with us that day, and we are happy to report that he and Annie dog are great friends.

Our half Golden Retriever, half Great Pyrenees was only six months old when this photo was taken. Storm is our tender-hearted gentle giant!
