Pet's Story or Bio
Cara was abandoned on a rural road in Spotsylvania County in late 2010. We had lost our previously rescued Aussie and Boxer the previous summer due to illness. When our daughters came home for the holidays, they said, "Mom, you need a new dog." We went to the Fredericksburg SPCA two days after Christmas. It was the first morning that Cara had been put out for adoption. She was in the last cage, and would not let my girls pass her without trying to kiss them nonstop. Once we took her to the play room, we knew she was the one! I have never known a smarter or sweeter dog. Cara does not bark (except when the doorbell rings) so we suspect that she may have been punished by a prior owner for vocalizing. However, I have taught her to say "yes" and "love" by using her tongue! While she is no longer a puppy, she enjoys two mile-long walks a day, and she also is mommy to many stuffed fur-babies, including Mommy and Baby Shark (Go Nats!) and a much beloved Puppy. In fact, she loves all of her stuffed babies so much that I believe that she may well have had puppies of her own before she was so horribly dumped on the side of that country road. What kind of a human being could do such a terrible thing to such a sweet girl? The good news: we have been blessed with the best girl ever!
