Your Dog's Story or Bio
Chistorra was bred by a group of illegal hunters in the south of Spain, they overbred and mistreated many dachshund mixed dogs -who happen to be great hunters- including her parents. Every time a batch of puppies was born, they sorted them out and discarded the ones they could see were weaker. Chistorra was one of them. The Sosgolden Association rescued her within days of her birth and, lucky us, we adopted her. .The name Chistorra comes from a Spanish sausage similar to chorizo that is brown and redish, just like her. It sounds like [Shistora]. She came to our home when she was only 3 months old, prematurely separated from her mother, and after sharing a foster home with three golden retrievers, where I suspect she got little of the food available. She joined our family on December 2012 in Barcelona, Spain, and moved with us to Los Angeles, CA in 2014 and to Miami last year. Chistorra has a rare beauty, caramel wire hair and a charming personality, which call the attention of everyone who sees and meets her. You could not tell that she has had to deal with more than her fair share of health issues: our poor thing has had a diaphragm repair when she was 6 months old, and 3 back surgeries in the last 4 years. She suffers from severe skin allergies, specially this time of the year.... Despite all this, she is always bubbly and happy, and very loving and affectionate to everybody in our family and everyone she meets, as well as other pups. She loves hunting lizards and has caught a few of them as well as one garden snake! She is also a neighborhood hero in Manhattan Beach, CA, as one night when everybody was asleep, she sensed a fire in the street behind our home. She barked until my husband woke up and called 911. For us, she is not only a pet, she is an extra kid that the universe gave us. My son and daughter have left home to pursue their careers in college, and Chistorra is keeping our lives and hearts busy. She is our antidote to the empty nest syndrome. Chistorra is an example of positive attitude, resilience and love. ,
