​Meet Chocolat, affectionately known as Chocky—a handsome bay gelding with a heart as bright as his copper coat. Bred locally in Bishop by Carol Ludwig, Chocky carries the legacy of her beloved stallion, Commonwealth. Chocky has been more than just a horse; he’s a cherished member of our family. Growing up alongside my daughter AJ, Chocky embodies courage and curiosity. Despite a challenging hind-end mechanical founder a few years ago, his resilience led to a full recovery. Now, he’s my dedicated partner as I pursue dressage medals on a horse I trained from the ground up. Chocky greets me at the gate, eager for work and eager to learn. He’s protective of AJ when she rides, ensuring her safety. Loyal, hardworking, and endlessly curious, Chocky is the perfect mix of softness and strength—a true example of grace and determination.
