My Pet's Story
I adopted Sassy from APR in November 2020 after she had been given to the rescue by a family that only had her for a few months. She was very scared and uncomfortable with the other cats at the shelter, and she was aptly named by the APR staff to reflect this. Admittedly, there was not much of a connection between me and her initially, but Cheryl at APR was committed to bringing us together. She moved Sassy to a volunteer's place where we could interact with each other without the presence of other cats. Armed with a box of Temptations, I was able to pet her, and only suffered one bite. After this meeting, I felt compelled to give Sassy a home where she could be happy and calm.
The moment I took Sassy home, everything about her changed. She is the cuddliest girl who always wants to be next to me. She loves hanging out in her scratching box and showing off her fluffy belly. If I leave the house, even for a short time, she always greets me with meows and leg rubs. She is a better companion than I ever imagined and I love her very much. Thank you to APR and Cheryl in particular for trusting me with Sassy. I am so grateful to have her!
