My Pet's Story
Although we adopted 3 other dogs from the Humane Society, we purchased Helga from a Pet Store, that we later found out got all of their dogs from a puppy mill. Helga has had major health issues since we got her and even had 3 surgeries before turning 1. Helga's vet bills have surpassed $20K+ and we were told she would not have a long life, but she is about to turn 4 and is doing very well. :) Channel 10 did a story on Helga & thanks to that & the persistence of a local councilwoman, S. FL stores that sell puppies have either been closed or ordered to not sell puppy mill dogs.
