Molly was a rescue from Arkansas with an “Advanced Degree” in break away and escape skills. She taught her forever dad what he didn’t know concerning a rescue field setters. She could find a way to get free from a short lead, a 15 foot lead or even a 6 foot strong fence.
During one early morning walk with her dad while on a 6 foot lead Molly demonstrated what it means to be able to slip away. In less than one minute she was out of sight and nowhere to be found. Fortunately she was miles from any car traffic, but her dad was frantic. Some walking friends tried to help but she was too far away. A friend took Fritz (FRYC a Germany Jagd Terrier) off lead and said “Go find Molly”. He didn’t even know Molly at the time but he knew a dog was in trouble.
Molly was found about 15 minutes later with her lead tangled around a bush. She must have travelled 2 miles in a very short time. Her dad learned first-hand about the speed and break away skills of a setter. He continues to learn from Molly.
Molly and Fryc have been best friends since that day.
