Meet Giannis. Giannis is a rescue dog from the streets of Greece. We became best buds this March when I bought my first home in Gilbert, Arizona. After several weeks of becoming besties, Giannis wasn't acting right. We found out that he had a rare disease called Leishmaniasis. This isn't a common disease in the United States so it has been hard to find the right treatment. Luckily, I found several people from the rescue foundation and on Facebook overseas (THANK YOU SO MUCH) that have been super helpful in this ordeal and we are on our way to recovery. After several blood tests, urine samples, x-rays, ultra sounds, 37 days of injections and daily pills, we just received good news that the blood levels are normal again. Yippee! We won't know for several more months if the disease has been fully treated but we are on the right path! Giannis has endured a lot over the last three months and since the injections have been done, he is ready for a new chapter of hunting, and marking his territory all over the United States. He will be blocking sun rays and any complications for years to come. Vote For Giannis!
