A little about me...
Adele came to us by way of rescue. The agency came to her rescue when a resident noticed a “very sick and possibly dying dog” had laid down in her yard and was in distress. Adele (as we named her) was emaciated, had recently had a litter, had breathing difficulty and was in failure to thrive. The rescue agency had her for two weeks waiting for someone to claim her. We just happened to be in the area to visit a different dog at another shelter but was not a good fit for our elderly Brittany. We found Adele’s photo and info on Pet Finder and headed over to the Eaton Ohio shelter who had just put her up for public adoption the same morning! Right place. Right time. Adele was still not completely well, but we could see her beautiful heart and soul. Ironically, she went into full Mama/Nurturer mode w our Brittany. We discovered that she had most likely fulfilled her “puppy mill quota” and had been turned loose, from a known mill in the area. Once we got her home and to our vet, he discerned that she was about 5 yrs old. He treated her for Mange, Respiratory issues, prescribed Science Diet, and monitored her closely for 6 mos to get her weight and other concerns stabilized. It actually took about 2 yrs before she became healthy. Adele is 12 yrs old now. This is the first ES we’ve ever had and have loved every minute of her ES sillyness.
