Grab your props and set up the camera because the Animal Care Shelter for Kent County wants the cutest, suavest, and silliest pets! We're all looking for something to do during this stay-at-home period, so what could be better than spending an afternoon playing with and playing up the best aspects of your pet?

We invite you to submit your pet's photo, and vote on other pet photos, so we can award some seriously amazing prizes and help our animals. Pets do not have to be ACSKC alumni in order to participate. This is not only a fun competition, it's a fun-draiser! The money you raise in this competition will help ACSKC continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and place pets in loving homes throughout Kent County and beyond.

At the close of the contest, professional photo shoots will take place in preparation of the final product. These colorful, full-size publications will be available in Spring 2021, and are available for pre-order. Once printed, you'll be able to pick them up at the shelter (pandemic permitting) or catch us at our booth at the weekly Farmer's Market! 100% of all proceeds will benefit the programs and services of ACSKC.

It's just $5.00 to submit your pet's photo, and only $1.00 per vote! So, let's have a good time, give some prizes, and support a great cause.


The pet with the most votes at the end of the contest will receive an 11x14 custom pet portrait in either oil or pastel by local artist Anne F. Singer; claim the spot of CoverPet for the 2022 ACSKC Calendar; and will be a Pet of the Month for one of the 12 available full-page spots within the calendar.


The Top 5 Dogs, Top 5 Cats, and Top 2 Other Domestic Pets with the most votes at the end of the contest will be featured as the Pet of the Month for one of the 12 available full-page spots within the calendar.


Cast your vote for your favorite pets, and you will be entered into our raffle! At the end of the contest, 3 lucky voters will receive a gorgeous handmade quilt, donated by Olde Kent Quilters Guild. The winners will also receive a $50 gift card to Molly's.



Reserve a day in the 2022 Calendar to honor your pet. For a $25 donation, your pet's photo will appear on the holiday of your choosing. Pick Valentine's Day to show how much you love them, or Thanksgiving to show your gratitude. We've also included some pet-centered holidays too! Don't wait—dates are available on a first come, first served basis.
