Your Pet's Story
We adopted Veggie from Animal Friends Alliance around Valentine's Day 2024. Her description recommended that she shouldn't go to a home with young children, but we had just lost our our elderly cattle dog that month and she was so sweet that we decided to give her a chance. Veggie came to us highly anxious and destructive, and after a few months, we discovered that she had elbow dysplasia. We also discovered that she has a very high prey drive and would stop at nothing to kill our chickens! After many months of patience, professional training, fence folding, and physical rehab, Veggie is back to her athletic form and no longer limps, and is the best dog we could ask for! Veggie loves to play with our cat, other dogs, and is also so good with our 3-year-old daughter, who loves to wrestle and play with her best friend. Today, Veggie is a social butterfly who makes friends everywhere she goes. Gentle, smart, and playful, she is always getting compliments on what a good dog she is. All of our shelter pets have a story, and Veggie is a perfect example of how a bit of work, and a lot of love and patience, can make the difference in a very deserving life. Veggie is a vital member of our family and we are ever grateful for the work our shelters do for animals in need!
