Your Pet's Story
In October 2021, Hank (FKA Lucien) had spent a few weeks at Animal Friends Alliance after journeying from a shelter in Texas. Almost a year had passed since we lost our beloved St. Boxer (St. Bernard/Boxer mix), Max. Dogs were in high demand and rescue groups were extra busy, so we came to the shelter. When staff pulled back the curtain of his enclosure, we glimpsed a handsome, Shepherd-blended gentleman with spotted paws and floppy ears. His fawn coloring and light, soulful eyes struck a familiar Max note in our hearts for a brief moment. Long story short, Hank is part of our family who knows all of the neighborhood walking routes and keeps a close eye on his 'sheep'. One boop of his snout is enough to gently herd a cat or direct a human to the snack supply. Sometimes, for just a brief moment, one ear will stand up and the Shepherd bloodline is crystal clear. He's a fan of the couch but when his people are out, he's a protector who guards the door until they return. After all, a Shepherd is happiest when everyone is together.
