A little about me...Waiting in isolation at Chicago Animal Care and Control, Apple had a broken leg and needed to be in a cast for six weeks. We (the Hinsdale Humane Society) knew she would heal well and that we could help her heal, so we took her in.
Unfortunately, the day after we got her to our facility, she started vomiting and became lethargic. Sadly, she tested positive for panleukopenia, a highly contagious viral disease caused by the feline parvovirus. Kittens are most severely affected by this virus.
We put her into isolation, started her on fluids, anti-nausea meds, antibiotics and tummy protectants, to make her comfortable and provide her with the best chance of recovery.
She’s getting better and stronger each day and her leg is on the mend. Apple is now in a foster home and making great progress, but telling her story helps us help other medical cases like her.
