Spokesdog
A little about me...He is about the most alpha dog I can imagine, as he commands attention from everyone in the family. The alpha factor extends to the public also, as he has to assert his domain on every passing dog. At a hefty 170 pounds, his assertion does not go unnoticed. He’s got the kind of robust bark that shakes sidewalks. Within our home, he’s the most loving and cuddly dog imaginable. He sits on top of our kids as his unique display of affection. He sleeps in bed with us every night, proving that even king beds have their limits. While I may hover along the edge of my bed at night and endlessly tug at the sheets to find comfort, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We have towels strategically placed throughout our house to address the constant drool, but that’s just part and parcel of having a Saint Bernard. We’ve had other dogs before and we’ve loved them all, but none have been more captivating than he. Many people have asked us why he doesn’t wear the barrel around his neck. I’ve always joked that I’d constantly deplete him of his brandy supply. The truth is that he was meant to be more than the cliche of a Saint Bernard with a barrel around his neck. He was meant to be a poster boy on a beer can, staring back at you as if to say… bottoms up, I’m the toast of this town!
