Spokesdog
A little about me...Moose is currently battling Myasthenia Gravis, Masticatory Muscle Myositis, & Megaesophagus. These autoimmune diseases attack the muscular nerve junction & facial muscles responsible for chewing/his daily routines. Even with these diagnoses & symptoms he’s still the loving, cuddly, sweet boy he has always been.
Moose is 5 & was also born deaf, but he is extremely intelligent and a very quick learner of sign language. His favorite signs are for belly rubs (aka play dead) and hide-n-seek. He was adopted from PAWS Chicago in May 2020 at the start of the pandemic & his new family instantly fell in love with him!
Moose has always been a quirky pup. If he isn’t chasing his own tail around the yard or leading the pack on a hike, he’s inquisitively waiting for a new trick to add to his repertoire from his owners or from his friends so he can learn to actually “dog”.
He now has to eat/drink sitting upward in a ‘Bailey Chair’ & we are working on finding the best medication for him long term. While the past month has been a drastic change, he has fought with resilience while maintaining his highly playful energy. He hopes soon he can return to playing fetch, hiking, & wrestling with his friends!
Moose hopes to be a spokesdog for dogs just like him, so they can get the care they need and deserve to live long and fulfilling lives!
