Originally picked up as a stray in Missouri, Fitzroy was very nervous at the local shelter. All the noise and commotion was too much for him, and he chewed on his front legs every day until they bled.

When no owner came forward to claim him, the shelter knew Fitzroy would do better in a foster home, so they transferred him to a rescue group in Minneapolis. We knew he'd be a perfect match for our family, so we drove 7 hours from Chicago to adopt him! We moved to VA last year, and he much prefers his quiet suburban life in Alexandria to the big city.

In his first year of life, Fitzroy traveled far and had several stops along the way. We are so grateful for the collaborative efforts of shelters, rescues, and fosters across the country who (literally) go the extra mile to help dogs like him!
