Kayla and her pups (including Everest) were neglected in their previous home when they were rescued by AWLA in May. We had to say goodbye to our two rescues this past year: mixed breed Nora (a Hurricane Katrina orphan retrieved from Louisiana by AWLA in 2005) and German Shepherd Annie (adopted at nine years of age, we loved her for four). After a couple of months we were ready to welcome dog love and joy back into the house. When we met Kayla we were charmed immediately. Once she came home with us we renamed her Sunny (short for Sunshine) to reflect her bright, happy personality. We've taken her on many outings already, including visits to Mt. Vernon! She is a terrific traveler and we are thrilled she has joined our pack.
