In 2011 my father died leaving my mom alone with her aging cocker spaniel, Faith. Together, my mom and Faith moved from their home to a small apartment. I was worried as Faith was aging. When Faith died we took my mom to AWLA because she found a puppy on the shelter website and believed that was the dog she wanted. The shelter staff met with my mom and gently guided her. A puppy would have been too much action! They introduced my mom to Max. It was a match made in heaven! Max's owner was moving into an eldercare facility and would be unable to care for Max any longer. Though Max's hair was matted, and he had skin and ear infections, he was a friendly little old dog, ready to live the rest of his years with the love and TLC my mom gives him every day!
