A couple months after moving from Boston to DC in 2001, I got a 6 month old sister and brother and named them Maurice and Maddie. Maddie died a couple years ago and Maurice has since been the "only child." He is very doglike in that he will fetch (no return though), follow me around, socialize, and loves strangers. In the past couple yrs, he had a couple bouts of pancreatitis and lost a lot of weight. I thought it was over but we got him back on track and finally he's his 15 lb self again! Even after 15 yrs, he still comes up with new tricks and keeps surprising me. He's really my sidekick and I can't imagine him not being with me anymore.
