My mother and I volunteer at the shelter with the dogs, and we like to look in the small animals room on our way out. Pete, a little white guinea pig with a ruffly head, absolutely captured our hearts. The moment we met him we knew he had to be in our lives. So a couple of days later, we came back to adopt him, confident he would still be at the shelter. But in less than a week he'd already gone home! My mom and I were disappointed, but I figured we should still look around and see if another guinea pig caught our eyes. We had only been looking for a few moments when Pete came back. His first owners were allergic, and so we filled out the paperwork and home he came.
