Story/Message
Made from my late mother’s repurposed, vintage Jell-O molds, this wreath is a tribute to her and her festive holiday and year-round meals. As children in the ‘60s, her daughters and our cousins loved to see glossy gelatin structures shimmering on our plates and holding combinations like orange with grated carrots or cherry with cranberries and walnuts (all mystifyingly referred to as “salad” – ha ha!). Now adults, we all lack her patience for creating individual gelatins, mousses, and desserts and opt for far simpler entertaining, so her molds sat in storage for decades. As a wreath, they have new life and will be a new addition to the holiday decorations in my childhood home, where my father still lives.
