Story/Message
For years, my sisters and I lamented that our late mother’s pretty, vintage, aluminum tart molds sat unused and hidden. We lack the patience and time to do the work-intensive entertaining she did, so her entire collection from Italy and Sweden had been tucked away in storage for decades. This year, I’ll surprise my sisters, their families, and our cousins with the tart molds in a repurposed state: as holiday ornament keepsakes. I embellished three dozen molds with combinations of holiday card art, craft supplies, paint, and seashells and focused on themes my mother loved: holiday decorating, music, seasons, birds, and nature. Now, my mother’s tart molds will adorn all our trees and serve as happy reminders of the ways that she made our Christmases more beautiful.
