Appalachian Pug Rescue (APR) is a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to giving pugs the lives they deserve—safe, loved, and cared for.
Based in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, we serve a broad region including PA, MD, OH, VA, WV, NJ, DE, and NY. Our pugs come from shelters, owner surrenders, puppy mills, and rescue partners. No matter their background, every pug in our care receives the medical attention, love, and stability they need to thrive—thanks to our incredible fosters and supporters.
We specialize in placing pugs in foster homes, where they’re evaluated, treated by veterinary professionals, and matched with loving forever families. Some of our pugs have manageable needs. Others require long-term or even hospice care. No matter the case, we never give up on them—and we cover 100% of their care with help from donors like you.
We also work to educate the public about the unique needs of the pug breed and coordinate with other rescues to save as many snorty faces as we can.
