Animal’s Story
Bijou is a 13-year-old Miniature Poodle. She has been a member of Alliance of Therapy Dogs since November 2013, and ARF's Pet Hug Pack since February 2014. We've done 765 visits to date and can't wait to visit people again. We visit a hospital, nursing home, assisted living, library and camp for children with disabilities or chronic illness. Her favorite place is the hospital. She says hello to everyone---patients, visitors, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff. She loves to snuggle with the patients. They often get so relaxed petting her that they fall asleep. Patients also tell us that focusing on Bijou helps them forget about their pain. At Halloween, Bijou wears a witch costume. At Christmas, she comes in a fancy holiday dress. We get extra smiles and laughs when she walks in the room!
