Pet's Story or BioZoom is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi (which is a separate breed from the Queen's Pembrokes). He was a show dog as a puppy, but by age two, his front legs grew too tall for the standard. He was thrilled to retire from show life and be adopted by Merrie & Paul where he is the only pet. His training for the show ring makes walking him a dream. His body being close to standard, may mean there may not be any back issues encountered with our prior corgis.
At age 7, he has premature graying, but we can relate to that! His brindle eyebrows and cheeks are fading to gray.
His hearing is great as evidenced by the barking to alert Merrie & Paul. He really tries to please and is very food motivated. He is a timid soul who dislikes wind storms and noisy earthquakes. He is never far away from Merrie whether it be sitting under her desk, or laying outside the bathroom door.
Zoom can read other dogs. He appears reactive to a dog a ways off bewildering Merrie, until the dog approaches and shows it is very reactive to Zoom. He ignores deer and squirrels unless the squirrel is dumb enough to approach and attempt to tease. He will referee dogs being a tad rough to each other. He is mellow next to gentle giants and he can be calming to fearful dogs.
Like many dogs, Zoom can read people. His discernment on who he allows to pet him, has been enlightening. A rough house toddler who tries very hard to be gentle, Zoom will sit still for. A distracted child, he will avoid. An aggressive person, he will stare and guard Merrie. A loud person, he is hurrying to get away.
Zoom likes to walk and can do two miles as long as the temperature is cool enough. He constantly sheds his double coat but the black coat just soaks the sunlight which limits summer afternoon walks, and that is fine with Merrie.
Let's show Zoom that you don't have to be in a show ring, to get recognition. Please vote for Zoom.
