Pet's Story or Bio
Penny was an assisted adoption through ARF and I had been looking for a pug for a while but something in my heart told me she was my dog. So I went to go see her and she did not look at my once but my heart expanded and I felt all warm inside and I knew then she was going to be more than a dog for me but I did not know how or why?
I had her for about three weeks and she never left my side and if I left for a few minutes she would almost freak out. I also noticed that she was scratching me a lot to get my attention. Within the next few weeks I realized she was scratching me when my blood sugar was low on my blood sugar monitor. I am not diabetic I have something called reactive hypoglycemia and my blood sugar dropped so low that I have had seizures in the past. She was trying to alert me to tell me my blood surgery was low! She could smell the change in my hormones. She had that down perfect but needed some socialization (for which she received training) so that she could come with me to restaurants and everyday places like going to the bank and grocery shopping. She also loves going to the bank here in Idlewild because they have treats there! She has been such a joy in my life just for being her, but the fact that she saves my life everyday makes her extra special.
