Tell us why your pet supports the ARLNH!
Maggie, my cat, is more than just a companion—she’s a living testament to the life-changing work of the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire. Her journey began in South Carolina, where she was found as a stray, already pregnant despite being so young herself. Vulnerable and alone, she was given a second chance thanks to the compassionate efforts of ARLNH, who transported her north in hopes of finding her a safe and loving home.

That’s when Maggie found me—or rather, I found her. One day, while reading the ARLNH e-newsletter, I saw a photo of a cat whose eyes stopped me in my tracks. They were the same soulful, expressive eyes as my previous cat, who had been my therapy companion for years. The resemblance was uncanny, and in that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense that this was meant to be. It was as if Maggie had been sent to me, a gentle reminder that healing and connection can come in the most unexpected ways.

By adopting Maggie, I not only gave her a furever home, but I also became part of the ARLNH mission. Every time someone hears her story, they hear about the incredible work ARLNH does—rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Maggie is a quiet ambassador for the organization, a daily reminder of the power of second chances and the importance of supporting animal welfare. Her presence in my life is a gift, and through her, I continue to support and advocate for the work that made our story possible.

Tell us what makes your pet better than all the rest!
Maggie is an amazing cat—and not just because she’s beautiful, though her striking eyes certainly make a strong case. She’s a playful little troublemaker in the most delightful way, always keeping me on my toes. One of her favorite games is fetch, which she used to play properly, but now she prefers to collect the toys and leave them scattered like tiny trophies. She’s also a true foodie—if there’s a crinkle, a can opening, or even a whisper of food, Maggie is there, ready to investigate. But what really sets her apart is her personality. She’s incredibly vocal, and we have “conversations” where I’ll say something and she’ll respond with a perfectly timed meow. It’s like living with a furry, opinionated roommate who always has something to say.

Maggie also has a very specific snuggle schedule. Around 3AM, she’ll gently wake me up just to curl up beside me. Once she’s reached her snuggling limit, she returns to her own space like nothing happened. It’s her way of saying, “I love you, but I also need my independence.” That balance of affection and autonomy is part of what makes her so special. She’s quirky, expressive, and full of charm—every day with her is filled with laughter, warmth, and the occasional dramatic meow. Maggie isn’t just a pet; she’s a companion, a conversationalist, and a constant source of joy. Her presence makes life richer, funnier, and more connected. She’s the best kind of trouble, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
