Thanks to amazing rescue organizations like ARLNH, so many animals are able to find their forever homes—and we humans find our soulmates! I am forever grateful to the rescue we adopted Milton from. I know my life wouldn’t be the same without him. He has brought an immeasurable amount of joy, laughter, and love into my life.

Tell us what makes your pet better than all the rest!
Milton was born in a puppy mill in Missouri. Shortly after his birth, he was taken in by Green Mountain Pug Rescue in Vermont. At 18 weeks old, he came to live with us. Milton is a special needs pug—he was born with a spinal deformity that eventually caused him to lose mobility in his rear legs. But in 2015, we got Milton his wheelchair, and he's been rolling ever since!

Having a wheelchair was a game changer. It gave him mobility, independence, and the ability to keep doing all the things he loves—like playing fetch, going on trail walks, and swimming. Milton has always been strong and determined. Being disabled has never stopped him, slowed him down, or stolen his joy!

Milton is always up for any adventure, big or small. He enjoys camping trips, canoeing, or simply hanging out while we grab a drink at a local brewery. Whatever we do or wherever we go, Milton is almost always with us.

In 2017, I created an Instagram account for Milton in hopes of connecting with others who care for disabled pets. Over the years, we’ve made many friends, offered guidance and support to fellow pet caregivers, participated in an annual virtual relay race for disabled pugs, and raised funds for pets in need of wheelchairs. Milton has spread hope and joy to thousands of people through this platform.

For the past 13 years, Milton has been the absolute joy of my life and the best friend a girl could ask for—my constant companion, always by my side. He makes every day better.
