Hailey is a 17 year old amazing young lady with a kind and caring heart. Hailey was diagnosed 5 years ago when she was 12 years old with a rare low grade brain tumor known as a juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma in her hypothalamus. Following diagnosis, she underwent 11 surgeries and 6 weeks of proton radiation therapy in less than 2 years. These treatments drastically changed her quality of life and caused short term memory and cognitive issues, weakness on her left side, seizures and a lot of endocrine issues, which require several daily medications. However, through it all, Hailey has remained positive and optimistic. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks with her dog, painting, cooking, baking, playing piano and watching soccer. She also works at a local ice cream shop a few hours a week and volunteers weekly at Children’s Specialized Hospital, where she assists physical therapists with their patients.
