Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
This iris is painted using acrylics on a denim vest. I enjoy painting on clothes I can wear. Creativity is part of the essence of who I am so it gives me joy to share it.

Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)
I am the 72 year old, proud grandma of Alex Wood. Alex was a very happy, carefree little boy who often hung out with me at my condo in Ocean City, Maryland, until a day our family will always remember in May, 2015. I will always remember the phone call from my daughter, Amy, at midnight, to tell me that they were at John’s Hopkins Hospital and that Alex was diagnosed with a crainopharyngioma brain tumor. His life and ours have never been the same. I remember the doctor telling his parents that he was sure they got it all and it was benign. We expected him to wake up and be fine. Instead, he didn’t wake up for almost a week, couldn’t talk or walk. For the last six years, Alex has continually fought many medical problems. In addition to being proud of the very, special young man Alex is, I am also proud of my daughter, who constantly fights for the best medical care for Alex and other children like him.
