Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)
"a still life for my dad" is 8 x 10 inches and oil on canvas. It is a gift for my father- who has been one of my biggest supporters since my diagnosis. The rich, warm colors in this painting are a lot like him: full of joy and comfort to me and the rest of my family. For me, a huge part of being an artist is the ability to share my art with the people closest to me. Nothing makes me happier.

Bio (include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis)
Hi! I'm Katarina Love, a 16 year old artist and brain tumor THRIVER living in Charlottesville, Virginia. I was diagnosed with a low-grade ganglioglioma in March 2017. I had brain surgery on Saint Patrick's day to save my life and have been pretty lucky in my brain tumor journey since then! Being able to use art as a creative outlet and as a way of emotionally healing has been crucial for me. I love every second I send creating art, whether that be oil painting for local exhibitions or peacefully drawing in my room. I hope that my deep love for art is evident in my work, and that my audience is able to take away their own joy by seeing my art.
