Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)I created my own Lino print by carving into Lino and making a stamp. I created a pill shape with the wording brain days inside it, inspired by Damien hirst (artist) “this end up” I printed my stamp onto card and then I scanned in my print to the computer used photoshop to manipulate and edit the colours to create a pop art style influenced by Hirst’s work. The end result is the digital dart you see below that I printed out. I am really proud of this piece of work as it has turned out really well. I like how I have used bold highly saturated contrasting colours which many times sit opposite each other on the colour wheel. This creates an energy and very graphic style which grabs the viewers attention and demands to be looked at.
In this piece of work i used pills and bright colours. I loved the bright colours which reflect a pop art style. I liked how pills can be seen as a positive and bright, with block simple shapes and colour. This reflects myself in 1 art piece. Brain days, relating to how my brain functions (and the witty wording to match my bubbly oersonality), pills to represent what keeps me alive and functioning and bright colours to represent my bright personality. It is a very powerful and fun piece.
