I used my iPhone for this photo. I was walking to the farmers market when I took this. I thought it was interesting and cool that it was growing up through the cracks in the pavement.
Dandelions are quite unique and resilient. They are the only flower to represent the sun, moon and stars. They have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant. Dandelion seeds can travel as far as 5 miles. Birds, insects and butterflies consume their nectar or seed. Dandelions do not need to be pollinated to form seed. They Open in the morning and close in the evening. Every part of it is useful from the leaves , root and flower. It can be used for medicine, food and as a dye. The name dandelion comes from the French word “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth which refers to the coarsely toothed leaves. I enjoy photography because it helps me stay present and in the moment.
